Climate issues are always subject to constant change. Hot, cold, humid, dry—everything affects everything else. Summer is about travel, adventure, and... hot steering wheels, hot air in the cabin, and overheated gadgets.
The temperature inside a car in the sun can rise to +60-70 °C in 20 minutes. And here we are talking not only about comfort, but also about safety, the condition of the equipment, and the health of the passengers.
We have prepared a list of common situations and solutions for you on how not to “bake” in the heat. For yourself, your car, and your comfort on the road.
What to do with your car in the heat?
Ventilate the car interior
- Open the doors or roll down the windows for a few minutes before driving. This will not only let the hot air out, but also reduce the load on the air conditioner compressor at the beginning of the trip. It will be easier to breathe inside after just a minute. Don't forget that it's not just the air that heats up.
No sun visor?
- Cover the steering wheel with a towel. Your palms will thank you later — it's been tested. Most of the heat will be absorbed by the fabric, and you will be able to sit behind the wheel comfortably.
Stereotype: aerosol cans in the glove compartment
- Do not leave deodorants, air fresheners, and other aerosols in the sun, as they may explode or leak. It is better to hide them in the shade, under the seat, or take them with you.
Park under trees
- Even if you have to walk a little further. Shade + open windows = a noticeably cooler interior.
Check your tire pressure
- In hot weather, the air pressure in your tires increases. This increases the risk of losing traction or even a blowout. Check the pressure before long trips.
Don't fill up the tank
- Fuel also “expands” in the heat, and a vapor lock in the system is not what you need in the middle of summer.
Don't leave your devices in the car
- A laptop on the seat = guaranteed overheating. A phone under the glass = at least a swollen battery. It could even explode. Leave them in the glove compartment or take them with you.
Protect child seats
- Cover them with a towel or a special cover. Hot plastic/metal can burn a child's skin.
Check the fire extinguisher and keep it in good working order
- In hot weather, any spark can have serious consequences. Check the pressure and expiration date.
Water is always a must-have
- Drinking water for you, distilled water for your car. A supply in the trunk will definitely come in handy.
Cabin filter = car breathing
- A clogged filter reduces the efficiency of the air conditioner. If it has been a long time since the last maintenance, or you don't remember when you last changed it, it is better to replace it in the summer. It will be cleaner and fresher.
Turn on the “freshness”
- Air fresheners with menthol, eucalyptus, and lime create a cooling effect even without air conditioning.
It may seem obvious, but many people neglect this and then, when they open their car, they find themselves in a microwave rather than a car interior.
In the heat, small things matter. One towel, a little shade, or a new filter, and your car remains not just “drivable,” but comfortable and safe.
Don't neglect this — summer continues, and the road favors those who are prepared.
